Unified Championship Wrestling returned after Southern Stampede with Whiplash!
A night filled with chaos, cheers, jeers, and excitement!
Starting things off, Blade Lennox made his presence known, as only he could, stealing a microphone, berating the crowd as he introduced Blades Bereau for Better Wrestling; starting with newcomer Benjamin Augustus, and Blade’s tag team partner for the night: King Gibbo. Blade Lennox and King Gibbo took on fan favourites: Jacko and Kai Solomon, in tag team action. Despite some interference from Benjamin Augustus, Jacko managed to get the pinfall victory for his team, quietening Blade Lennox, for at least the 3 seconds it took for the pinfall, much to the pleasure of our GM Kristel, sitting at commentary ringside.
What would a Unified Championship Wrestling show be without the resident tea enthusiast, Ray Gunn? Always after a tea break, by any means, Ray Gunn took on one of the biggest men who just walked off the footy field in Chalky Murdoch. The big man was not there to take breaks, as even blinded by Ray Gunn’s eye pokes, Chalky Murdoch used the crowd to find, and chop, Ray Gunn. Before Chalky Murdoch could get a pinfall, Archie Bower and his newest dominant force LUKA, distracted the ref and took out Chalky Murdoch with a brutal Spike to the neck, allowing Ray Gunn to sneak an undeserved win. Was this an alliance forming between Ray Gunn and Archie Bower, or a display of power and domination by LUKA?
In our first tag team match of the evening, we saw the in-ring debut of two new teams. #ERA, made up of star of Southern Stampede, Michael Winner, and the ever growing, Jay Van Dal. #ERA brought energy, excitement, and explosive joy, to everyone everywhere, except the two men across the ring from them: OMEN. Well-known to Unified crowds, the monstrous Ram brought with him a new partner in Ravyn Black. OMEN showing no regard for the safety and wellbeing of their opposition in #ERA, seemingly took joy in the pain they put them through. In the end, a massive Spear, followed by a Top-rope Diving Headbutt, put an end to the match, with a victory for OMEN. These two teams look to be mainstays of the tag team division moving forward in 2026, keep an eye out there.
Once best of friends, former tag team champions: John Henry and Stuart, have been coming together to try and solve their issues over recent weeks. When talking failed, more drastic measures had to be taken. Mediation via chicken eating contest. Unfortunately, this failed too. What was left, but to take things into the ring. And to the ring they went.
John Henry, always the gentleman, went for handshakes and communication again, however Stuart’s turn to the darkside seems complete, as he took every advantage possible to take shots below the belt of John Henry. Eventually, not even “Mr Superior” could withstand the pain known to all men, and Stuart got the pinfall for the, albeit very tainted, win. This definitely did not look like the end of things between these two former friends.
Our scheduled Heavyweight Title match, unfortunately could not happen, with a serious injury to our challenger. This was not going to be a missed opportunity for our Heavyweight Champion, Big Gun. Big Gun offered up an opportunity to anyone in the back who had never had a title match anywhere ever before. This did not fall upon deaf ears. Making his debut, “The Night Wolf” David Marshall stepped up right away. Introducing himself to the Unified crowd with fire and passion, Marshall took the fight to the Champ right away. Unfortunately for Marshall, there is a reason Big Gun has been the dominant champion for as long as he has, and this match ended quickly via Big Gun’s Full Flex submission.
The Champ was not done there, trying to simmer down the crowd’s jeers, Big Gun offered his challenge again. Next out was recently debuted and self-proclaimed “slickest greaser” Rex Rebel. Slipping out of Big Gun’s initial clasp, Rex Rebel eventually also found himself stuck in the Full Flex submission.
A third time, Big Gun offered up his challenge, starting to show signs of the battles already taken. Out stepped an intense Josh Castle, clearly looking to take the fight straight to Big Gun. A surprised and stunned Big Gun, starting on the back foot, pulled out more of his arsenal, including the Pumphandle Slam, before finally locking in the Full Flex. Ever cocky, Big Gun laughed off the crowd, as Jacko entered, taking up the challenge. After some heated words, Big Gun called an end to the challenge, leaving Jacko without his shot at the Heavyweight title. Very quickly we found out, at Domination June 6th, Big Gun WILL be defending the Heavyweight title against Jacko; expect this to be a heated affair!
With tag team champions, Rested Development, seemingly losing each other internationally, Black Light District’s Corey Beams only had to come alone and take on Jimi Conway. Knowing that a win here would guarantee a title match in the future, and holding tag team win over the current champions already, Corey Beams put on a showcase of his rough and technically sound style, that made him a champion in Southern Pro Wrestling previously. Jimi Conway, with the heart of a lion, or lacking the ability to stay down, found ways to up the pace and create space, putting Beams off his gameplan. In the end, Conway spiked Beams, and got the one, two, three.
Never far enough away to avoid Unified’s ears, Archie Bower did an Archie Bower. Grabbing a mic, and calling out Jimi Conway to defend the Tag Team title number one contendership once again. Conway, overly eager as ever, get ready to take on Bower right then and there. With an ace always up his sleeve, Bower brought out the youngest Unified Grandslam Champion, Kawa Kupa, as his proxy for the match. Before Bower and Kupa could take advantage of the battle-worn Conway, the other half of Rested Development, Marc Morales, arrived at Kaiapoi Club, tagging out Conway, and taking the challenge of Kupa. After an expectedly physical battle between Kupa and Morales, showcasing an ability to counter each other’s moves, Morales hit the “Thingymabob” spiking Kupa on his head, and getting the three. With Rested Development back together, we know Domination is expecting an exciting Tag Team title match indeed.
Our main event for the evening, for the Light Heavyweight title, between champion, Matt Attack, and Southern Stampede winner, Elliot Samuels. A match between two men who respected each other, and their journeys to this point, they provided a little bit of everything. Technical wrestling prowess from Elliot Samuels, fighting spirit, resiliency and a throw-caution-to-the-wind attitude from the champion Matt Attack; this lived up to expectations. Nearly sealing the win, Elliot Samuels barely avoided Matt Attack’s Swanton Bomb off the top rope, before locking in his own submission finisher. This one looked near the end… Or it did, until Archie Bower. Steel chair in hand, Bower laid out both champion and contender, before taking the Light Heavyweight title, and promptly leaving the building. Where does this leave the Light Heavyweight title picture moving forward?
